The Magic House

Several weekends ago my mother and I took Sienna and my nephew, Clay, to St. Louis' Magic House. They both had a lot of fun!

Sienna's 25

I saw this on Mamush's blog and had to do it for our little one:

25 Random Things About Sienna:

1) She knows all the words to 'That's Not My Name' by The Ting Tings.
2) She likes to tell Rocco what to do
3) She thinks she can swim like a fish, but we're still working on that.
4) Ni Hao Kai-Lan made her think she was Chinese.
5) We have seen a couple of movies in the theater...she calls it the Movie Station.
6) If Seth and I argue she tells us, "be nice, that's right"
7) We have to read
The Wizard every night before bed.
8) She has to have at least one wand in her bed to go to sleep.
9) She still asks me if the other children whose blogs I read are her.
10) She introduces Seth as "my friend, daddy"
11) She would eat chicken nuggets for every meal if we let her.
12) She says she is my best friend, ever.
13) She fills her shopping cart with any and everything she can fit in it and will go around the house passing those things out.
14) She is currently obsessed with playing pretend catch.
15) She NEVER stops talking!
16) When she does not get her way she stomps off and sits on the step and then comes back and tells us she is not mad.
17) If she is having a hard day and you ask her what is wrong she will tell you, 'nothing' and sigh.
18) She LOVES wizards but shakes when she talks about witches.
19) She would wear a dress every day if she could.
20) She cries when I put socks on her because she knows they are not tights which means she is not wearing a dress.
21) She is thoroughly convinced there is a "Y" in her first name.
22) She can get on my iPh*one and move the apps around.
23) We saw Cora*line (at the movie station) and this prompted many questions about 'other mothers' - she knows she has a birth mom in Vietnam, but not a clue what that means yet
24) Sienna has decided that she is 'little' and constantly talks about it (I hate this as too many people comment about it to her).
25) She still doesn't like to cuddle unless she is scared or doesn't feel well, but will kiss at us across the room and will tell us she loves us 'more and more'

Playing catch-up

It has obviously been a while since my last post. We have been doing a lot around the house. We painted the bathroom ceiling and walls. We moved Sienna into what was the office (although the computer is still in there). We had to put a shelving unit in her closet to accommodate all of her clothes. We then painted the baby's future room. Since then I have been going through all of Sienna's old clothes and toys to see what we have, what we need and what we can get rid of.

All of this has added to the tiredness I have been experiencing from the pregnancy. Add to that the fact that the computer is in Sienna's room since we haven't gotten around to adding WiFi to our house (which means no internet after she goes to bed unless it is on our iPhones) and you get no posts on the blog. I have been bad about keeping up with others blogs, too.

I am hoping to get back to posting at least weekly, so stay tuned!!

Sienna just hanging out in her Illinois College sweatshirt. She is normally so put together in dresses and tights (at her demand) so it is not often she just gets to look relaxed.

Sledding

We have had quite a bit of snow this year, but it has just been too cold most of the time to go sledding. Sienna even got to make snow angels!!

Christmas - a little late

Sienna enjoyed Christmas this year...although she got tired of opening presents without being able to spend time playing with each one.

She really wasn't too sure at first:

Christmas Service at Church

Sienna was an angel in the church program. This involved sitting and listening to a story and then singing songs while wearing a white cape and halo headband (to which she quickly became attached). She enjoyed the attention.

At the closing of service there was a candle-light song. Sienna held my mother's candle with utmost care and was quite enamored with it. She watched it closely and as beautiful as a photo op as it was, I did not want to ruin the moment.

Winter singing

Sienna's school sang winter songs last week in the lobby of the building (also the building that Seth and I work in). We got to see both performances (at least she wasn't picking her nose during the second)!

Sienna really got into the second performance:

News

As many have noticed I have kinda been slacking in my posting...nothing for a month and then five posts to cover everything that has happened. There has been a reason...for starters I am exhausted and could go to sleep at 6pm every night (not that Sienna would let me).

Before anyone starts to think that I need to see a doctor, I have. Today marks my 12th week into my first pregnancy! I have not had morning sickness and except for being extremely tired and feeling ravenous I have felt pretty good. Seth is quite upset at the breast tenderness, but he will get over it!

I have begun to get very upset at the comments of people around us. Many just do not THINK before they open their mouths. The main comment I get is, "that is wonderful, you adopted and now you are pregnant...that is always the way it goes." The sad part is that I have gotten this comment from people that KNOW Sienna's adoption had NOTHING to do with trying to conceive! This is something that I explain to them and then walk off. I got this from several people at the mall; one in Vi*ctoria's Secret while explaining my need for new bras and one at the ornament stand after buying a personalized family ornament with "Seth, Sarah, Sienna and Baby" put on it. This woman even went into detail about how she hopes it happens that way for her sister (who could get pregnant but couldn't stay pregnant and has since moved on and adopted). Why do people see Sienna as a second choice to conception? She was anything but and I hope to stress that to her if she start to understand these thoughtless comments.

One of my other 'favorites' is, "now you will have one of your own." What does this mean?!?! I just want to hit them and walk off. I have tried to be nice and curtly say that Sienna is mine and move along (quickly), but I am getting frustrated and am sick of people!! What makes them think they can randomly talk to me about my family? I also had someone comment that, "now you know the plumbing works." Where they serious????

The sad part is that while I do have a little bit of a belly (it is currently just a protective layer of fat that has shifted from other parts of my body and is making my jeans cry) I have not gained any weight yet (certainly not for lack of eating-as previously mentioned) and dread the comments I will get when I start to show and people that I am not even talking to decided that they have a right to comment.

Gymnastics

It has been a while since we took some pics at gymnastics. We got a couple of really cute ones last Tuesday-she just loves to play! The only bad part is that they scheduled two classes in the same room at the same time so we have to rotate being in the regular room and the dance room. Sienna loves the dance room-mommy doesn't. There is a floor-to-ceiling mirror for her to watch herself (let's just say that if she cannot watch herself in the mirror while doing something it typically doesn't happen)!!

She kinda looks drugged here:

We were on our way to a party when Sienna decided she needed her picture taken...several times.

Thanksgiving

We had a hectic Thanksgiving (driving from house to house) but Sienna had a blast!! She hardly had a nap (less than an hour during transit) but held out like a champ. She didn't eat much at either meal, but enjoyed running between all of the family members.
